A message has been received form Millersburg, Indiana, bringing the sad news of the death of Rev. C.W. Sifferd, D.D., of that place, on Friday, June 12th. The body is being brought to North Carolina, and burial will take place some time Monday at Ebenezer Lutheran church, Rowan county, where the parents of Dr. Sifferd, along with other members of the family are buried.
Dr. Sifferd had just recently celebrated his golden wedding, and also the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the Lutheran ministry. He was planning a visit to relatives in North Carolina, expecting to arrive July 15th, which makes his death especially a sad one. Dr. Sifferd has a large number of relatives in this section of the state, having been born and reared near China Grove. Mrs. Fred Sheperd, of this place, is a niece, and Mrs. W.L. Ezzell a great-niece of Dr. Sifferd.
