Rocky Mount Police Told to Not Shoot at Suspicious Cars, June 9, 1925

The Rocky Mount police force has been instructed not to shoot at any car on suspicion, and to be certain that they were within the law before they used their guns. It some times takes a martyr to bring about needed changes. Certainly the growing disposition to enforce law at the point of a gun upon mere suspicion needs to be halted. It may be that in giving his life, S.S. Holt will be the means of saving others.
