N.B. Efird Finds Long-Staple Cotton Sells Well, Oct. 10, 1925

Stanly Farmers Grow Better Variety of Cotton

Albemarle, Oct. 10 (AP)—Farmers in Stanly County are profiting by the experience of N.B. Efird of Albemarle in growing a better variety of cotton, reports Farm Agent O.H. Phillips.

In 1924, says Mr. Phillips, Mr. Efird planted a small acreage of Mexican big boll cotton and was so pleased with the results that this year he planted his entire crop to the same variety. Many farmers in his community planted the variety this year, and it is the opinion of Mr. Efird that the whole community will plant noting but this pedigree seed next year.

Mr. Phillips states that the gin owned by Mr. Efird has set aside certain days for ginning this cotton and is rendering a fine service to farmers in the community by keeping the seed clean and the strain pure.
