For several weeks the disappearance of one Richard McNeill, colored, who hails from the Rowland section, was of great concern to many people in the county. No one had seen Richard for weeks, and it was reported that he had met with foul play. The county officers were censured for not finding the man.
Sheriff B.F. McMillan found him, and he had become the victim of bad play, but all of his own accord. He is registered in Robeson county’s chain gang, and will not be able to check out for several weeks more, being sent there by Recorder P.S. Kornegay for carrying a concealed weapon, mention of which was made in The Robesonian at the time.
