Editor Praises C.H. Martin, Private Secretary of Senator Overman, March 5, 1921

Mr. C.H. Martin, private secretary of Senator Overman, was a magnet of popular attraction for North Carolina visitors to the capital in recent years. He was a man who knew how to welcome the incomer and was possessed of a peculiar knack of divining their mission and in anticipating their requirements in the way of information. He was a useful man not only to Senator Overman but to all of the senator’s visitors. Verily, in the pilgrimages to Washington henceforth, something will be missing. As clerk and secretary Mr. Martin had developed qualifications which made him nigh perfect.

From the Charlotte Observer, as reprinted on the front page of the Hickory Daily Record, March 5, 1921
