GEORGE AREY
Salisbury, March 1—George M. Arey, a young son of Jacob Arey, farmer of Morgan township, this county, is dead as a result of automobile trouble with a bicycle lamp. Arey, who is about 22 years old, was returning home from Richfield with a friend, Adam Fraley, about 1 o’clock Monday morning when automobile trouble developed, and when an investigation was begun with the use of a small lamp an explosion followed and Arey was badly burned. He was brought to a local hospital where he died about noon.
MRS. MARGARET PEOPLES
Mrs. Margaret Peoples, 83, wife of Richard R. Peoples and one of the most widely known women in the county, died at her home in Providence township Tuesday morning at 1 o’clock, following an extended illness. For the last five years she had been in failing health and for some weeks her condition had been regarded as critical.
She was Miss Margaret Amanda Wiley of York County, S.C., before her marriage to Mr. Peoples, February 9, 1886. Mrs. Peoples is survived by a sister, Miss Agnes Wiley, who was with her during her illness, and a wide circle of relatives in South Carolina. Her husband and a step-son, James Peoples, also survive.
The funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12 o’clock at Sardis A.R.P. Church in the county, of which Mrs. Peoples had been a member for many years. The services will be conducted by Dr. R.G. Miller, pastor of the church.

LUCILE SUMMERVILLE
Lucile, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephan Summerville, died at the home, No. 614 South Church street, Monday afternoon at 7:45 o’clock. The child was 10 months old Monday. The death occurred after a short illness from pneumonia.
The funeral services were to be conducted at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon by Rev. W.B. Lindsay, pastor of the First A.R.P. church. The interment will be Paw Creek. The father is a machinist at the Virginia Carolina Chemical Company.
MRS. M.E. WILLIS
Mrs. M.E. Willis, wife of the late R.J. Willis, died at 5 o’clock Tuesday morning, age 75. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o’clock Wednesday at the home of R.W. Griffith near Ebenezer church.
Mrs. Willis is survived by the following children: Rev. W.M. Willis of Red Level, Ala., J.B. Willis of Mayworth, and R.L. Willis of Charlotte; Mrs. C.M. Griffith, Mrs. B.E. Culp and Mrs. C.M. Griffith of the county. Mrs. Willis was a life long member of the A.R.P. Church.
CHARLES HASTY
The body of Charles Hasty, 40, who died at Morganton, arrived in Charlotte Monday night. The funeral services were to be conducted Monday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at Ninth Avenue Baptist chrch, of which Mr. Hasty was a member. The services will be in charge of Rev. W.A. Smith, pastor of Pritchard memorial church, as Rev. L.R. Pruette, pastor of the Ninth Avenue chruch is in Western North Carolina conducting an evangelistic meeting.
Mr. Hasty is survived by his mother, Mrs. Della Hasty, and two brothers, H.B. Hasty and Oscar Hasty, all of Charlotte.
