Jesse Armfield Faces Additional Charge of Embezzlement, April 5, 1922

Armfield Faces Another Charge of Fraud

Lexington Dispatch

More trouble piled up for Jesse L. Armfield, in jail here in default of $75,000 bond on charges of embezzlement, misapplication and abstraction of funds of the Bank of Thomasville, when a warrant arrived here during the past week charging the use of fraud and deception in obtaining $10,500 from the First National Bank of Snow Hill, Green County. This warrant is now in the hands of Sheriff Fred C. Sink, but has not yet been served by reason of the fact that Armfield is now in custody.

According to this warrant the loan was negotiated by Armfield more than a year ago and was secured by three notes, one from Armfield, one by Gates City Lumber Co., and one by another person, all three of whom, the warrant alleges were insolvent at the time but which it charges Armfield represented to be solvent.
