Washington, July 7—Postmaster A.H. Boyden of Salisbury will be allowed to serve out his term if the post office department does not change its mind. Senator Overman today asked the civil service commission about the rumor that an examination for the Salisbury office will be announced soon. He was told that there is truth in the rumor. Mr. Boyden’s time is out a year from today, and he will hold on if the republicans live up to the statements made to Mr. Overman today. Mr. Boyden is one of the last Confederate veterans still in office.
