About 2 o’clock Thursday night the Southern Railway station at Topton was completely destroyed by fire. The building was completely enveloped in flames when discovered and the fact that oil was stored in the building, together with the lack of fire fighting equipment, prevented local citizens from saving anything. One or two cars of lumber and other heavy freight standing on the tracks were saved, though the cars were badly charred. The loss is not known.
