Ground Superintendent George Pickard Slightly Improved Following Stroke, Dec. 23, 1923
Chapel Hill, Dec. 22—The condition of George Pickard, superintendent of grounds at the University of North Carolina, was described by his physician as “slightly improved.” He suffered from a stroke of paralysis early this week and has lost the use of one side. It is feared he may not recover.
Mr. Pickard is well and favorably known to this and other generations of University students who regard him as a campus celebrity. Alumni always make it a point to look him up and chat about old time.
