Robert Moore Kills Michael Taylor at Highland Hospital, Jan. 14, 1924

Moore Waives Preliminary Examination

Asheville, Jan. 14—Waiving preliminary arraignment, Robert Moore, who is alleged to have slain Michael Taylor of Richmond, Va., at the Highland Hospital here last week by striking him on the head with an axe, was bound over to Superior Court on a charge of murder today and was held without bond. Counsel for Moore said the defendant would enter a plea of insanity. Both men were undergoing treatment for mental disorders. The case is expected to be tried at the term of court convening January 28.

Asheville, Jan. 10—Michael Taylor, 28, ex-captain of the world war and formerly an attorney at Richmond, Va., was attacked and killed at the Highland hospital here last evening by Robert Moore, 27, said to be a member of a wealthy Chicago family. Both were undergoing treatment for mental disorders. Attendants at the hospital said that Moore suddenly seized an axe and buried the weapon in Taylor’s head without warning.
