Atlantic Coast Line Trains Delayed June 8, 1925

Coast Line Traffic Held Up Twice Monday

Traffic on the Atlantic Coast Line was jammed twice here Monday. Once because of a box car spill and the other when Peacock trestle below town caught fire.

The afternoon passenger train was held here for two hours until the fire was put out and repairs made. The damage was slight. Fire started from a coal dropped from the fire box of one of the company’s engines. The box car was overturned Monday morning when it was run onto a pass track without a breakman to control it. The car began rolling down grade in the same direction the engine was going, sideswiped the engine, and turned over when the two came together at the point at which the pass track and the main line converge. The wreck occurred near the plant of the Ripple Lumber company. The box car was empty.
