Charlotte, Sept. 5—“Red” Barron, outfielder of the Charlotte Hornets and former Georgia Tech football star, was fined and suspended for the balance of the season by Ray Kennedy, manager of the local South Atlantic association club, tonight. The amount of the fine was not announced.
When removed from the lineup in favor of a pinch hitter in today’s game with Augusta, Barron indignantly hurled his bat into the Charlotte dugout, narrowly missing hitting several of his team mates.
The former football star was bought by the Boston Braves a few weeks ago.
