Mayhew's Car Returned but Boys Who Damaged it on Joy Ride Escape, Sept. 17, 1925

Joy Ride in Stolen Car Ended in Wreck—Boys Escape

Last Sunday night while preaching was going on at Central Methodist Church some devilish boys took possession of the automobile of Mr. C.Q. Mayhew and started off on a joy ride. They made a clean get-away from the place where the car was parked in front of the church, but at the intersection of Academy street and Wilson avenue, the Ford car the rogues occupied ran pell-mell into a large Buick. The little car was damaged considerably. In the meantime, Mr. E.H. Miller had taken Mr. and Mrs. Mayhew to their home west of town while the policemen were on the hunt for the car and thieves and found it at the place above stated. The car was left and the boys who stole it escaped. The repair will cost Mr. Mayhew about $25.
