Solomon Barnes Died Trying to Retrieve His Hat, Sept. 9, 1925

Killed Jumping Off Truck Sunday—Solomon Barnes

Mr. Solomon Barnes of Boomer township was killed or died suddenly Sunday immediately from the effects of jumping off a truck to get his hat on the road between Holly Springs Church and his home. Being 70 or 80 years of age, it is thought the jolt killed him.

He leaves a widow—before marriage was a Ferguson (sister of Zack Ferguson) and also one son living in their old home and three sisters. A son died in West Virginia a few years ago.

He sometimes preached and had belonged to the Baptist denomination. The burial was at Rock Springs Church.
