Three Men Drown When Thunderstorm Flips Boat on Badin Lake, Sept. 18, 1925

Three Negroes Drown

Badin—The heaviest toll of life known in the history of the Badin lake took place when three negroes were drowned at one time. Four negroes were in a small boat paddling their way from a mosquito swamp located about 10 miles up the lake and were met with a heavy wind due to a passing thunderstorm. The waves were so high that it capsized the boat. Lucius Branch clung to the boat and was saved, while Fred Adams, Aaron and Coleman Smith met their death. All the negroes are married.
