Mr. W.P. Beckham of Badin took charge Tuesday as superintendent of the city’s water and lights department, succeeding Mr. E.A. Widenhouse.
This is the first change in the personnel of officials under control of the mayor and board of aldermen since they took over the town’s affairs some three months ago.
Mr. Beckham has had six years with the Tallasee Power Company at Badin in the same class of work, and he comes to Albemarle very highly recommended. He and his family occupy the Miller residence on East South street.
Mr. E.A. Widenhouse, who has held the local position several years, quits the service with the respect of all. He is a good electrician, and has given to the town a good administration.
