Old Court House Clock Tower Dynamited, Feb. 19, 1926

Court House Clock Tower Blown Down

The clock tower to Cherokee County’s destroyed court house was blown down by Barnett Brothers Monday afternoon. The inside foundation walls were weakened by knocking a number of brick loose and dynamite applied. The first blast brought down only half of it, the side facing the building. The blast was so smoothly handled that it appeared as if some strong man had taken a large axe and split the tower in half. It took two more blasts to bring the other half down. Seventeen sticks of dynamite were used.
