Miss Griffin Killed in Miami Hurricane Not Former Elizabeth City's Margaret Griffin, Oct. 8, 1926

Miss Griffin Not Lost During Florida Storm. . . Former Elizabeth City Girl Fortunately Only the Victim of Report That She Was Dead

Miss Margaret Griffin, former Elizabeth City girl, is fortunately alive and well, instead of dead as a result of the Florida storm, as reports would have had it several days ago. Word came from Manteo, by neighbors and by traveling men, to the effect that relatives there had received word of her death.

The fact that her father, W. J. Griffin is developing large real estate interests in Florida, and that the name of a Margaret Griffin was among the list of victims, probably gave rise to the report.

Despite the report that Mr. Griffin lost heavily in the storm, his relatives advise that he sustained only nominal losses. Mr. Griffin is developing a subdivision known as Melrose Heights in Miami.
