Albemarle, Oct. 29—Henry Lefler, aged 18, of this city, died this afternoon from injuries received last night on the Salisbury Road in Northwest Albemarle when an automobile driven by a Mr. Chandler of this place, ran into him and two other pedestrians. Mrs. Dora Carter, a young woman of this place, is at a local hospital suffering from a fractured skull as a result of the accident and is not expected to recover. James Holt, who was also one of the party smashed into by Chandler, although rather painfully hurt, is not seriously injured.
Mr. Chandler says that he was not driving at a reckless rate of speed at the time but he ran into the three pedestrians, but claims that he was blinded by the lights of another car which he was meeting at the time. He says that he did not see the people at all.
