Young Clinton Man Takes His Own Life

Clinton, May 11—Firing the load from a sawed off shotgun into his heart, Graham Royal, young white man in his twenties, ended his own life here last night, the tragic occurrence taking place around 10 o’clock.

Mr. Royal is a son of Mrs. Mary Honeycutt, who operates the Montague Hotel here. Ill health is given as the cause of his act, the deceased having been afflicted for some time with tuberculosis. He was formerly a patient at the state sanatorium but had been at his home here for some time, confined a part of the time to his bed. Yesterday he is said to have remarked that he wanted to use the shotgun to kill a dog, and last night left the house with the gun. Several hours passed, his mother growing uneasy over his failure to return. A search was made and his body was found in the back yard.

Dr. Royal of Salemburg, county coroner, was called and inquest held. The coroner’s jury came to the conclusion that the deceased met his death as the result of gunshot wounds, self-inflicted. Funeral services will be held tomorrow.
