Considering Plans for the New Courthouse

Messrs. H.B. Lane, W.J. Boykin and W.C. Boyette, members of the committee of the County Commissioners on architectural plans for the new Courthouse, met this morning in the courthouse with a number of architects for the purpose of going over the plans and sketches and to decide upon the plans for the new building to be erected in the fall.

The architectural competition was strong, there being 12 architects present. The committee went over the plans of four of the architects this morning. It will probably take this afternoon and part of tomorrow before the commissioners look over the plans of all.

The following architects submitted sketches for approval: Wilson and Berryman, Benton and Benton, S.B. Moore, all of this city; C.G. Sayer of Raleigh, Mr. Milburn of Milburn Heister and Company of Washington, D.C., Mr. P.T. Marye of Marye, Algie and Algie of Atlanta, Ga., Mr. Bates of New York City, N.Y. Mr. James of Danville, Va., Mr. Harry Barton of Greensboro, F.A. Bishop of Petersburg, Va., Mr. Chadwick of Chadwick and Lockwood of Montgomery, Ala., Mr. Frank Simpson of Raleigh.
