New Lawyers Granted Licenses in North Carolina, Aug. 25, 1923

82 Legal Advisers Granted Licenses in State. . . 98 Applied Before Supreme Court But 15 Failed to Pass. . . Two Local Boys. . . W.A. Dennis and A.C. Jordan Among Those Who Successfully Won Out . . . A Large Summer Class . . . Every Section of the Old North State Represented on List of New Lawyers

Raleigh, N.C., Aug. 24—Eighty-two lawyers have been added to the state’s legal roster, according to the list made public tonight by the state supreme court. Seventy-nine of these passed the examinations held the first part of the week, and the remaining three were licensed under the comity act. Ninety-eight applied for licenses, 15 of whom failed to pass the written examinations, and one who was not granted a license under the comity act.

Four Trinity college law students holding certificates from the school of law passed the examination representing their institution 100 percent strong. The Trinity men taking the examination and passing were: W.A. Dennis, L.S. Elkins, J.E. Lyon and N.M. West.
