About 40 ladies of the Baptist Church, comprising members of the Woman’s Missionary Society, and Mrs. Wilburn’s Sunday School Class, held their annual picnic on Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Tugble O’Briant at Hurdle Mills. Chairs had been placed on the lawn, shaded by many grand old trees, the scene being one of refreshing coolness. In the hospitable way which is natural to Person County folk, the hostess made her guests feel perfectly at home.
The Missionary Society held a short meeting, which was led by Mrs. H.H. Masten. Near the cool of the evening, a bountiful picnic supper was served. Mrs. O’Briant and her four attractive daughters assisted in entertaining the guests, all of whom without exception thoroughly enjoyed this delightful occasion.
