Old Town Board Out and New Slate Selected, April 16, 1924

News Items of Walnut Cove

Walnut Cove, April 14—At the primary here Friday night for the purpose of nominating town offices the old board was defeated and an entirely new ticket nominated.

Nominations for mayor were P.H. Linville, S.C. Rierson and Carl Joyce, and Mr. Joyce received the nomination.

For Commissioners the following were placed in nomination: W.G. Dodson, Will Wheeler, Frank Johnson, J.L. Mitchell, M.T. Chilton, W.H. Sanders, G.W. Neal, Dr. J.W. Neal and Walter Nelson. The four receiving the largest number of votes were: J.L. Mitchell, W.H. Sanders, G.W. Neal and Dr. J.W. Neal.

About half of the voters were present at the primary Friday night and the above ticket looks like a winner.
