Two White men of near Rockingham are accused of having stripped a 9-year-old negro boy and drowned him in an adjacent mill pond after a sister of the young negro lad had frustrated attempts of the young men to perpetrate a criminal assault upon her. The crime is alleged to have been committed three years ago. Investigation of the charges are being made by authorities at Rockingham and one man alleged to have been a party to the crime is in jail awaiting developments.
