Rev. James Monroe Fullenwider, 80, Died Sept. 20, 1925

Aged Minister Dies

Rev. James Monroe Fullenwider of the Western North Carolina Conference died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Schenks, Godwin Street, Paterson, N.J., Sept. 20, 1925, aged 80 years, one month and 20 days.

He was born July 31, 1845, Lincolnton, N.C., and served many years in the gospel misty in the A.M.E. Zion church, mainly in the South during his latter years. He was an honored and highly respected member of the Western North Carolina Conference, but made his home in Paterson with his married daughter. He was a man of quiet and conservative habits, conscientious and pious, a good orthodox preacher, and faithful minister, and made a creditable success of his long ministrations. He is survived by a wife, three sons, one daughter, four grandchildren, one sister, and many friends in the circle of his acquaintance.

The funeral took place from the (Godwin) Summer Street A.M.E. Zion Church, Dr. J.A.S. Cole, pastor, delivering the eulogy, and was assisted by Dr. J. Harvey Anderson and Rev. Nixon. The attendance was good considering the misunderstanding in relation to the hour of the services. Interment in Laurel Grove Cemetery. The eulogy of Dr. Cole was impressive, and the remarks of Dr. Anderson also. Rev. Nixon offered a fervent and appropriate prayer.
