Governor Gives Five Clemency. . . State’s Chief Executive Paroles Few Prisoners But Refuses Many Others

Raleigh, April 5 (AP)—Governor McLean this afternoon paroled five prisoners and declined to act in 18 cases which had been brought to attention through application of clemency. He also restored the right to drive an automobile to one man who had that right taken from him when he was convicted of driving while intoxicated. There were no outstanding cases among those on which the executive took action.

Jack Hood, sentenced from Lenoir county to serve 8 months for vidla??on laws, was paroled for the remaining 2 ½ months of his term. The governor declined to grant clemency in the following case: Charles Parmer, Wayne county.
