W.B. Traylor, 75, Died April 5, 1926

Aged Resident of City Passes. . . W.B. Traylor Succumbed Early Monday after an Illness of Months

Following an illness of several months, Mr. W.B. Traylor, for more than 30 years a resident of this city, died at a local hospital early Monday morning.

The deceased, who was 75 years of age, was a native of Manchester, Va., living there up until 30 years ago when he came to this city and had made his home here since that time.

For more than 20 years he was superintendent of the Wayne Agricultural Works and was held in the high esteem by all who knew him. He was a member of St. Paul Methodist church, also a member of the Pythian Lodge.

He was twice married and is survived by his second wife and the following children: Messrs. Rd.(?)T. and R.B. Traylor of Norfolk, H.L. Traylor of Suffolk; Mesdames J.J. Harrison of Baltimore, N.L. Gardner of Harrisburg, Pa., and J.R. White of Norfolk.

The funeral service will be conducted from St. Paul’s Methodist church this afternoon at 4 o’clock and the interment will be made in Willow Dal [Dale?] cemetery.

The following will act as pall bearers: Messrs. Edger H. Bain, Albert Arment, Z.M.L. Jeffreys, John Slaughter, F.M. Irwin, J.H. Hill.

Was the name of the church spelled St. Pauls or St. Paul’s in 1926? It’s spelled both ways in the article. I’ve never seen “Rd.” used as an abbreviation for a name when a person goes my initials instead of given names. Rd. could be correct or it could be a typo. I don’t know.
