Mrs. Barron Falls 10 Stories to Sidewalk Without Serious Injury, May 13, 1926

Mrs. A.A. Barron Falls 10 Stories to Pavement and Lives to Tell Story

Charlotte, May 13—Mrs. A.A. Barron, wife of a prominent Charlotte physician, this afternoon fell from the 10th story of the Charlotte Hotel to the sidewalk, and tonight was living to tell the story of her fall.

Advices tonight from the hospital to which she was taken immediately after the fall were that she was conscious and probably will recover. Physicians and surgeons tonight said that this is one of the most remarkable escapes from almost certain death of which they had ever heard.

Mrs. Barron was watering flowers in a box on the window ledge of her apartment on the 10th floor of the building when she lost her balance and plunged from the window. Her fall was broken by a glass covered marquet in the front of the building through which she crashed to the sidewalk. Passersby picked up and sent her to the hospital. She was conscious when picked up, and directed the ambulance driver to which hospital to carry her.

It was understood tonight that no bones were broken and that she sustained no other serious injury than shock. Hospital authorities reported that owing to her shocked condition that they had been unable to make a thorough examination.

Dr. Barron is a prominent physician of this city. Mrs. Barron before her marriage was Miss Bright Kiser of this county. She was educated at Flora Macdonald College, Red Springs. She is one of the prominent women of the city.
