Mrs. C.M. Padgett Died May 3, 1926

Death Claims Beloved Lincolnton Woman

Mrs. C.M. Padgett, beloved Lincolnton woman, died in her room at the North State Hotel Monday, May 3, at 3:30 o’clock, the end coming after several months of patient suffering.

News of the death of Mrs. Padgett was received in Lincolnton with sincere grief, her lovely Christian character and her interest and love for her friends, even during her long illness, making her one of the most beloved women in the city.

On March 14, Mr. and Mrs. Padgett celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, it being necessary to have a quiet observance of the day, owing to the frail health of Mrs. Padgett. With her husband and children gathered about her, she passed the day most happily, as friends of the couple showered them with gifts and congratulations.

Surviving Mrs. Padgett are her husband and the following children, Mrs. C.R. Simmons of Chester, S.C.; Rowland Padgett of Winston-Salem; Vaughn and Earl Padgett of Lincolnton; Mrs. A.J. Gardner of Charlotte, and Miss Ruby Padgett of Lincolnton. –Lincolnton Times

The burial took place at Lincolnton, Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

Mrs. Padgett was a sister of Mrs. W.C. Blanton of Forest City and was widely known in Rutherford county.
