Washington, May 4 (AP)—The North Carolina Granite Corporation at Mount Airy, N.C., today was awarded the contract for granite in the superstructure of the Arlington memorial bridge here, at $1,615,000.
The contract for the granite for the sub-structure went to the Stone Mountain Grnaite Corporation of Stone Mountain, Ga., near Atlanta, for $207,000.
The Arlington memorial bridge is to link the Lincoln Memorial with Arlington National Cemetery, and is to be constructed at a cost of $15,000,000.
The contracts were awarded by the bridge commission, which consists of the president, vice president, speaker of the house, and chairman of the senate, and house public buildings and grounds committees.
A dark gray granite will be used for the substructure and a white granite for the superstructure.
