Now that spring has dawned and our long-expected exams are over, all of our thoughts are turned toward the trains and buses that are to bear us homeward in the near future. The most exciting time of college life are those when pack our belongings, with thoughts in mind, that soon we are to see Home Sweet Home.
Our little family is soon to be scattered over the many cities and states and some going even from our own dear country across the waters that divide us. Parting impresses sad thoughts upon our hearts, regardless of the happy ones branded there by home-going, because many of the dear familiar faces whom we love will leave us never to return. We pause and think of our dear Seniors, setting out on their many different roads along the highway of life. Our thoughts go out with dear sisters and may God stay the sails of your little boats, and tie reveal you worthy of our dear Alma Mater.
Tuesday is the last mile-stone of this college year. It will mark a great change at Queens. Forms will be moving happily over the campus. Some will set off walking, some in autos, while the street cars will bear us away in numbers—and some may even leave in – Fords. Tuesday night will find the grounds lonely and quiet with not a living being stirring, save the clever little squirrels who are planning to sped a happy vacation amid the beautiful stately trees that add so much charm to our dear old Queens.
Yes, it is sad to think of parting from those we have learned to love; but so is life’s course—following, parting on and on into the sea,--the sea that lies unchartered far beyond the setting of the sun!
