Mother Dies Before Lt. Moses Dew Can Make it Home, June 16, 1919

From The Daily Times, Wilson, N.C., Monday, June 16, 1919

Mrs. Moses Dew

Mrs. Moses Dew, an esteemed citizen and member of one of Wilson county’s oldest families, passed away this morning at her home on Green street after an illness of six weeks with a complication of diseases at one time thought to be sleeping disease. From this she rallied, however, and at one time seemed greatly improved.

The deceased was a staunch and devoted member of the Primitive Baptist church and was 59 years of age. She leaves one son, Lt. Moses Dew, who is a member of the 81st Division and who is now on his way home on some ship that will land either at Newport News or New York. An effort is being made to locate him and it is hoped to hear from him today. If so the funeral will be postponed until his arrival.
