249 Radicals Deported from America Now in Hango, Finland, Jan. 17, 1920

Buford Arrives in Finland. . . With 249 Radicals for Transport to Russia. . . No Reply From Soviet Government. . . Burkman (Berkman) and Emma Goldman Say They Are Returning to America to Save It

Hango, Finland, Jan. 17—The U.S. Army transport Buford having on board 249 radicals for deportation from America, arrived here at 3 o’clock this afternoon. Finnish pilots could not dock the vessel and a German pilot was secured. Alexander Berkman and Emma Goldman declared they would not return to Russia, but to America, to save it. The Finnish authorities informed the soviet Government of its plans to Send Emma Goldman and Alexander Berkman and the other passengers of the boat across the border into Russia, but no reply has been received from the Bolshiviki.
