Football Team at State Normal School at Elizabeth City Claiming Championship, Dec. 3, 1920
The football team of the State Normal School at Elizabeth City is claiming championship honors this season. What the fans considered a decisive test of their strength was their defeat of the Liberty Club Eleven of Norfolk on the Norfolk grounds Monday, Nov. 22. The State Normal ploughed their way to a 6 to 2 victory against the Virginia team, spite of the fact that the Virginians outweighed them by 20 pounds to the man and have so far defeated every other North Carolina team that has played them. Lewis, Boomer and Barton were the stars for the State Normal Monday’s game.
