U.S. Needs to Block European Immigrants, Dec. 7, 1920

Representative Johnson’s bill to stop immigration for a period of two years received a favorable report yesterday from the house immigration committee and action by congress is to be expected rather promptly. The bill would not prevent the admission of relatives of prospective citizens already in the United States, provided they are qualified to enter, but it would check of the flood of people that are fleeing to this land from all of Europe. Conditions are so bad in Europe that people are coming to the United States in hordes regardless of the present depression, they realizing of course that conditions over here cannot possibly be as bad as they are over there. The country does not want to be swamped by this foreign horde and in taking measures against it, congress is performing a good service.
