WOODROW CLINE
Statesville, April 13—Woodrow Cline, 9-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Cline of Catawba, died in the Long Sanatorium here Monday morning as a result of injuries sustained the evening before. The little fellow was riding on a lumber wagon when he was brushed off by a limb and one wheel of the wagon passed over his head, causing concussion of the brain. The remains were taken to Catawba for burial.
MRS. ELIZA ANDERSON
Statesville, April 13—The remains of Mrs. Eliza Anderson, aged 88 years, were buried Monday at Calahan, Davie county. Deceased was the widow of the late Charles Anderson, and was a daughter of the late Samuel Turner of Iredell county. She was an aunt of Gov. W.D. Turner of Statesville. She is survived by five sons and three daughters.
CATHERINE BARKLEY
Funeral services for Catherine Barkley, 14-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Barkley, who died Monday at the home of her parents on Statesville avenue, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home and the interment took place later in Elmwood cemetery.
Members of the seventh grade of the city schools, of which Miss Barkley was a member, and many friends attended the services.
MRS. M.E. VEST
Mrs. M.E. Vest, 81, of Rural Hall, mother of W.E. Vest of Charlotte, died at her home in Rural Hall Tuesday night following a stroke of paralysis suffered several days ago.
Mr. Vest was called to the bedside of his mother when she first suffered the stroke and was there when she died. His wife did not accompany him on the trip.
The funeral and interment will be held in Rural Hall Thursday, and Mr. Vest expects to return to this city Friday.
Mrs. Vest was active in all church affairs. She belonged to the Jefferson Christian Church.
She is survived by five children as follows: W.E. Vest of Charlotte; S.L. Vest and J.H. Vest of Winston-Salem; Mrs. J.D. Pulliam of Stokes county; and Mrs. R.A. Helsabeck of Tobaccoville, Forsyth county.
MISS KATIE M. FISCHESSER
Funeral arrangements have not yet been made for Miss Katie Meta Fischesser, who died Thursday at her home, 1701 Springdale avenue, after a lingering illness. No arrangements are likely to be made before relatives arrived late Friday afternoon.
Miss Fischesser is survived by two brothers and four sisters. They are A.F. Fischesser of this city; J.C. Fischesser of Montgomery, Ala.; Mrs. C. Valaer, Mrs. A.R. William, Misses Minnie and Annie Fischesser, all of Charlotte.
ROBERT GATHINGS
Robert Gathings, 2-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Gathings, Corner of 31st and Myers streets, died at the Charlotte Sanatorium Friday morning at 5 o’clock.
The funeral services probably will be held at the residence Saturday afternoon.
CALEB A. HESS
Salisbury, April 15—Caleb A. Hess, 85, died Thursday, at the home of his son, John A. Hess, on West Cemetery street, death being due to paralysis. Mr. Hess has been ill for several weeks. A widow and six children survive, four sons and two daughters.
The funeral was conducted from the residence Thursday afternoon by Dr. R.L. Lemons and the interment was in Chestnut Hill.
