Word from the western part of the county this week was to the effect that Mr. J.P. Covington was seriously ill at his home on Pilot Mountain, Route 1. Mr. Covington is an excellent and widely known citizen of the county and his many friends will learn of his illness with regret.

Dr. W.L. McCanless has been confined to his room with a severe cold the past few days but is improving some.

Mrs. H.D. Turpin, who has recently been seriously ill, is much better.
