Mistrial in Case Against Larkin Garrett, Aug. 4, 1923

Cumberland Court House Case Mistrial Yesterday

Cumberland Courthouse, Va., August 4 (AP)—A mistrial was declared Friday in the case of Larkin Garrett charged with the murder of Rev. Edward Pierce. Judge B.D. White, presiding, sustained a motion by the state in which the commonwealth challenged the right of three jurors to sit because they were disqualified by statements they were alleged to have made before the trial. Motin case late Friday after all evidence had been heard and thus stands where it did 10 days ago when called for trial.
