Winston-Salem, N.C., Aug. 4—Guilty of murder in the second degree was the verdict today of the jury in the case of the State vs. Clyde (Red) Gillen, charged with the murder of C.W. Holder, deputy sheriff of Forsyth county on the night of April 14. Guilty of manslaughter was the verdict in the cases of B.F. Nichols and George Hackler, charged with aiding and abetting in the murder of Holder. Gillen was sentenced to serve not less than 15 nor more than 25 years in the state penitentiary at hard labor. B.F. Nichols was sentenced to serve 10 to 15 years. The court reserved decision in the case of George Hackler until the next term of criminal court.
