Mrs. Ellen Durham Dead
Mrs. Ellen Durham died at her home in Four Oaks on Friday, September 7, at the age of 39 years, two months and two days. Funeral services were held Saturday conducted by Elder Turner and Elder Dal Johnson, and interment was made in Four Oaks by the side of her first husband, Mr. Metrous Barbour, who preceded her to the grave several years ago. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist at Four Oaks and was a good woman. Mrs. Durham was formerly in business with the Jas. A. Creech and company of Four Oaks, and was well known and loved by hundreds. She was a daughter of the late K.L. Barbour, a pioneer citizen of Four Oaks.
Mrs. Durham is survived by three children, one son and two daughters by her first husband; four sisters, Mrs. N.H. Barbour and Mrs. W.J. Stanley of Four Oaks, Mrs. Mary Runge of Elon College, and Mrs. E.O. Matthews of Smithfield; and one brother, Mr. W.E. Barbour, also of Smithfield.
The bereaved ones have the deepest sympathy of a large circle of friends.
