Princeton News Includes Brady, Summerlin, Whitley Funerals, Feb. 19, 1924

Princeton, Feb. 14—Misses Effie Aycock and Lottie Wallow and Messrs. Henry Fitzgerald and Herbert Aycock, from Micro, are the guests of Miss Eudelle Corbett this week. Misses Sallie Crockell and Mildred Woodard from Glendale were the guess of Miss Myrtle Holt Sunday.

Miss Irona Godwin from Lucama is boarding with her sister, Mrs. Bruce Rains, and attending the graded school.

Mrs. John Barnes, Mrs. W.J. Talton and Mr. Duke Duncan from Clayton were visitors in town Wednesday.

Mrs. Maud Rainey and Mr. and Mrs. Pittman from Goldsboro were visitors in town Sunday. Mrs. A.F. Holt Jr. from Duncan is spending a few days with relatives in town.

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Talton and Mrs. Wilbert Holt are spending the week at New Bern.

Mrs. W.S. Stevens from Smithfield is visiting Dr. and Mrs. R.S. Stevens this week.

Miss Rena Perry from Selma was the guest of her parents, Rev. and Mrs. G.B. Perry, for the week end.

Mrs. Hubert M. Cox and little Doris from Bentonville have been spending this week with relatives in town.

Mrs. John T. Revell and daughter Sadie from Kenly were visitors in town Tuesday.

Professor Harry Keller from Cornith-Holders school was a visitor here Sunday.

Tuesday the 12th was the first time in our history that two burial services were conducted in the cemetery at the same hour and by two undertakers.

S.R. BRADY

Mr. S.R. Brady died at his home in Smithfield Monday and was buried in the Woodman cemetery here Tuesday evening. The funeral services at the grave were conducted by Rev. Mr. Tuttle from Smithfield and the Junior Order, all of which were very impressive. As this was the old home of Mr. Brady, he had a host of warm friends in this community. There was a large number of persons resent at the cemetery in spite of the fact that a fierce North wind was sweeping across the grounds.

Dr. and Mrs. A.G. Woodard from Goldsboro were among those from other cities who attended the funeral of Mr. S.R. Brady Tuesday.

MRS. FRANK SUMMERLIN

Mrs. Frank Summerlin died Monday at her home near town and was buried in the Woodman cemetery Tuesday evening. The funeral services were conducted from the Free Will Baptist church by Rev. Mr. Styron of Pine Level.

GEORGE T. WHITLEY

Mr. George T. Whitley died at his home Saturday and was buried in the Woodman cemetery Sunday evening. He was 73 years old and had been a resident of the town since his early life.

He had been a faithful member of the Methodist church for many years and was secretary of the Sunday school for a generation. He was a good man and those who knew him best will miss him most.

The funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church by Rev. G.B. Perry, assisted by Rev. W.G. Farrar, a former pastor. There were many floral offerings and an immense crowd attended the services.

The following relatives from other places were present: Mr. and Mrs. George Whitley from Durham, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Mitchell from Durham, Messrs. Clarence and Ray Witley, Durham, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur K. Eason and Mr. Thad Woodard from Selma, Mrs. Mattie Briton and Mrs. Ida Brown from North Hampton Count, Dr. and Mrs. A.G. Woodard from Goldsboro.
