Mr. William M. Alexander died at 5:30 yesterday morning, Feb. 13th, at his home on Highland avenue of pneumonia. His condition had been serious for some time, since he suffered a fracture of the leg. He was 75 years old, the last surviving grandson of Hezekiah Alexander, a signer of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence, May 20, 1776. The funeral service was held at the residence this morning at 10:30 o’clock, conducted by Rev. R.E. Huey, pastor of Pressly Memorial Associate Reformed Presbyterian church. Interment will be at Oakwood cemetery.

A widow and 10 children survive, five sons and five daughters. They are Messrs. Eugene, Edgar, Stinson, Heriot and Joe Alexander; Mrs. W.C. Moody of South Dakota; Mrs. Bettie Roberts of Los Angeles, Calif; Mrs. Julia White; Mrs. J.P. Whitemore, of Yankton, South Dakota; and Mrs. J. Ed Turner of North Wilkesboro.
