When Mrs. A.A. Kluttz went out to her garden to get some lettuce for a neighbor Tuesday night, she stepped on a loose plank, lost her balance, and fell. Both bones in her leg were broken, just above the ankle. Hearing her scream, A.T. Johnson, who lives in the cottage just east of the big house, ran to her aid and was joined a moment later by Oliver Towles. With the help of two students, they got her to her room. Dr. Charles S. Mangum set the bones and then accompanied her to Watts Hospital in Durham. Visitors there found her getting along well yesterday.
