Minnie Lovings, Bobbed-Hair Girl, to Serve 12 Months in County Home, June 21, 1924

Girl Is Charged with Breaking and Entering

Greensboro, June 19—Minnie Lovings, bobbed-haired girl from Richmond and Norfolk, was convicted in Guilford Superior Court today of a charge of breaking and entering and receiving stolen goods, and sentenced by Judge Menry (Henry?) P. Lane to serve 12 months in the county home.

It was the first “bobbed-haired” case in court here, and the girl was tripped by a knife in her possession, which was identified as taken from a home entered near Gibsonville. When she was arrested she was attired in a man’s overalls and was, according to her story, walking from Greensboro to Gibsonville, where a friends was to furnish her transportation to Norfolk.
