Broad River News of Late Interest

Shelby, R-2—With planting time almost here the farmers of this section are very busy breaking land an hauling in a supply of fertilizer for the spring crop.

There has been a lot of sickness in this vicinity during the past few months and a number of cases of influenza have recently been reported.

Miss Oveda Putnam, the leader of the Sunbeam band, entertained the members of this organization with a delightful egg hunt at her home Saturday afternoon. These happy young people all report a good time.

Mr. Roland Johnson and family of Shelby have recently moved into this neighborhood.

Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Weaver of Gaffney spent Eastern at the home of her mother, Mrs. Docia Rollins.

Mr. and Mrs. M. Honeycutt and children of Shelby were callers in the community Sunday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. E.T. Ellis and daughter Nora visited relatives in Shelby Saturday.

Miss Essie Harrill, who has been teaching at Shanghai, is at home for her summer vacation.
