Franklinton, May 11—Messages to relatives here have just be received telling of the death of Dallas T. Ward, which occurred in Chicago this morning. Mr. Ward was in his 80th year, a native of Franklinton where he had spent most of his life, and leaves a wide circle of friends throughout this section of the State. A few years ago he removed to Chicago where he had lived since. The body was being brought to Franklinton for interment in Fairview Cemetery. The funeral services will be conducted from the Baptist Church Thursday afternoon at 3:30.
Mr. Ward was married to Miss Jean Gales of Raleigh. One daughter was born to this marriage, Miss Jean Gales Ward, now of Wake Forest, the mother dying soon afterwards.
Of a later marriage with Miss Virginia Brent of Atlanta, the following children survive: Mr. Reynolds Hawkins, Mrs. Jarvis Younger, Mrs. Fred Lewis, Miss Brentsie Ward of Chicago and Dallas T. Ward Jr. One sister, Mrs. W.M. McGhee, survives and is living here.
