Busy in Right
Direction
At the regular monthly meeting of the Board of County
Commissioners Monday, Noah Burfoot and J.E. Corbet were appointed as a
committee to act in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce and the Board of
Aldermen to determine upon the advisability and practicability of converting
the Court House square into a public park, with walks, benches and plenty of
electric lights. Arrangements have already been made to install a public drinking
fountain on the square, and things are looking good for the conversion of the
hitherto unused square into a real open air civic center for the benefit of
Elizabeth City and her visitors.
