Ghosts Were Busy Here
Last Night
An occasion that proved as enjoyable for the children as
Christmas—when Old Santa Claus comes along in his airplane—was Halloween in
Hickory last night. From the minute darkness settled over the land, or as soon
as the young folks could get supper, they were out with their costumes, and all
kinds of elfs, witches, ghosts and the like were soon moving about town. The
business section was invated and along towards 11 o’clock the school bells were
rung.
It was a real treat for the children and as many pronounced
it the time of their lives. For those just large enough to enter into the
spirit of the celebration, it was indeed.
The time of gathering up the debris this morning and washing
faces last night was trivial compared to the fun, it would appear, though the Record had no reports on this task.
